Kathryn White Ewell

Kathryn White Ewell, better known as Kassy, 90, wife of the late James D. Ewell and a resident of Chincoteague, VA, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at Shore Life care in Parksley, VA. A native of Chincoteague, she was the daughter of the late James E. White and the late Sally Holloway White. The Ewells owned Ewell's Grocery in Cape Charles, VA for over 25 years and worked side by side until they retired to Machipongo Shores.
She is survived by her daughter, Dee Pierce and her husband, Graham, of Pilot, VA; a sister, Jeanette Phipps of Chincoteague; a sister-in-law, Marianne White of Chincoteague and several much loved nieces and nephews.
A life celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 6253 Church Street, Chincoteague Island, VA 23336.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Shore Life care in Parksley for their loving care of Kassy during the past five years.
