Juanita Mariner Ballard, 82, wife of the late John Edward Ballard and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. She was born on February 1, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Henry Roy Mariner and Nellie Thornton Mariner. She was a member of Exmore Baptist Church and was active in the Violet Popp Circle of the Women's Missionary Union. Juanita was a native of Atlantic, Virginia and was a former member of the Atlantic Baptist Church. Through the years she enjoyed playing the piano, sightseeing, and camping. She enjoyed being in the mountains and fall was her favorite season. She retired as a C.N.A. with over 30 years of service with Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital and Shore Memorial Hospital. Survivors include two children, Ann Kay Ballard and Roy O. Ballard, both of Exmore; two grandsons, John R. Ballard of Exmore, and Wilson R. Ballard of Nassawadox. The family will join friends Monday evening from 6 to 7:30 at Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore. A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at John W. Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville with Pastor Maury Enright officiating.
