Joyce Stevens Core

Joyce Stevens Core, 81, wife of the late Billy Franklin Core, Sr. and a resident of Onley, VA, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016. A native of Point Farm in Quinby, VA, she was the daughter of the late Tankard G. Stevens and the late Janie Mitchell Stevens. She was a member of Drummondtown Baptist Church and Onley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Billy F. Core, Jr. and his husband, David S. Riley, Jr., of Onley; three nieces, Harriett Lumpkin and her husband, Punky, of Richmond, VA, Dottie Vaiden and her husband, Skip, of Chesapeake, VA, Jean Davis and her husband, Billy, of Onley; her nephew's wife, Nancy Marshall of Exmore, VA and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor John A. Burr officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Following the interment there will be a dinner reception held at Onley Baptist Church Social Hall. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to E.S.A.A. Community Senior Center, 4 Boundary Ave., Onancock, VA 23417.
