Joseph N. Harrison

Joseph Nuel Harrison, 80, husband of Carolyn Gladden Harrison and a resident of Birdsnest, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Cashville, VA, he was the son of the late Nuel Harrison and the late Ellen Diggs Harrison. He was a U. S. Marine veteran, the former owner of Virginia LP Gas Company, and was a member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church. His lifetime hobbies were raising beagles and horses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Joey G. Harrison of Belle Haven, VA, and Caroline H. Bloxom and her husband, Richard, of Pocomoke, MD; two sisters, Etta Manard and her husband, Jim, and Margaret Groton and her husband, Barry, all of Salisbury, MD; three grandchildren, Amanda H. Dougherty and her husband, Sean, of Jacobus, PA, Joseph E. Harrison of Birdsnest, and Megan E. Harrison of Belle Haven. He was predeceased by a brother, Warner E. Harrison. A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Belle Haven United Methodist Church with Rev. Judy Worthington and Rev. Jack Pruitt officiating.
