John Hamilton Smith

Mr. John Hamilton Smith, 59, husband of Shirley Thornes Smith and a resident of Exmore died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. A native of Exmore, he was the son of the late Samuel Francis Smith and the late Agnes Katherine Miles Smith. He was a Retired Manager of the Tru Blu Station with over 35 years of service and a member of Exmore Baptist Church. Other than his wife, he is survived by a son, John W. Birch of Exmore, Va., three sisters, Phyllis S.Robbins, Groverteen S. Hemphill both of Exmore, Faye S. Robertson of Suffolk, Va.; a brother, Pat Smith of Exmore, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22nd at 2:30 pm from the graveside of Belle Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Jack D. Pruitt officiating. Family will join friends Thursday evening at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore from 7 to 8:30. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
