John Donald Rippon, 69, a resident of Townsend, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Cape Charles, VA, he was the son of the late S. Eyre Rippon and the late Eleanor Collins Rippon. He was a retired clam boat captain, a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Post #56.
He is survived by three children, Bridgette Carstens and her husband, Matthew, of Poquoson, VA, Greg Rippon and his wife, T.J., of Cheriton, VA, Toni Long, and her husband, Josh, of Willis Wharf, VA; three brothers, Gordon Rippon of Townsend, Thomas Lee Rippon of Seaford, DE, George Smith Rippon of Fort Lauderdale, FL; ten grandchildren, Joshua Carstens, Billy Carstens, Kaleb Long, Haylie Hubbard, Adrianna Rippon, Gabriella Stokes, Hunter Rippon, Kaeden Rippon, Miranda Long, Owen Long; and one great granddaughter, Harley Carstens.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Cheriton Volunteer Fire Company with Mr. Barry Downing officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Legion Post #56, Post Office Box 357, Cheriton, VA 23316.
