Mr. John A. Mapp, 80, of Leesburg, Florida died Wednesday, November 30, in Clermont, Florida. He was the son of the late Ivan and Jennie Savage Mapp. A native Eastern Shoreman, he served in the U. S. Navy in World War II, and then started a successful 30 year career in banking at the former Northampton County Trust Bank in Cape Charles. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg, Florida. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Lucile Upshur Mapp. He is survived by two sons, John A. Mapp, Jr. (and wife Kathy) of Clermont, Florida, and William U. Mapp of Leesburg, Florida; brothers, Ivan D. Mapp of Virginia Beach, and Joseph S. Mapp of Onancock; sister, Jennie Benton Turner of Newark, Delaware; grandchildren, Nathan R. Mapp and Mary Beth Mapp of Clermont; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at Cape Charles Cemetery on Saturday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ernest L. Gardner, III officiating.
