John Lee Humphrey

John Lee Humphrey, 83, husband of the late Judith Stockwell and the late Barbara Brown Humphrey and a resident of Oyster, VA, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016. A native of Belle Haven, VA, he was the son of the late Robert J. Humphrey and the late Margaret Gay Harmon Karpa. He was a retired planner for Northampton County and previously was the planner for Albemarle and Loudoun Counties. He was a graduate of Lynchburg College, a U. S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War, and member of the American Legion.
He is survived by a sister, Gwen Alter of Green Cove Springs, FL; four children, Deborah Pocock and her husband, Doug, of Marionville, VA, Pamela Thornes and her husband, Jeffrey, of Eastville, VA, Kevin Humphrey and his wife, Tara, of Glen Allen, VA, Elizabeth Walker and her husband, Charlie, of Bayford, VA; three stepchildren, Jon Kilmon and his wife, Linda, of Belle Haven, Terri Kilmon of Oklahoma, Lynn Hale and her husband, Steve, of Christiansburg, VA; and thirteen grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Belle Haven Cemetery with Reverend Jack D. Pruitt officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the S.P.C.A. Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 164, Onley, Virginia 23418.
