John Davis Drewer
November 6, 1935 — October 30, 2016
John Davis Drewer, 80, husband of Peggy P. Drewer and a resident of Davis Wharf, VA, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Davis Wharf, he was the son of the late Earl K. Drewer, Sr. and the late Madge Davis Drewer. He was a retired United States Coast Guard Commander, teacher for Accomack County Public Schools and a member of Craddockville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three children, Jeanne Drewer Noonan and her husband, Scott, of Lynchburg, VA, James C. Drewer and his wife, Leslie, of Davis Wharf, Jody D. Drewer and his wife, Dianne, of Woodbine, MD; a brother, Earl K. Drewer, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Davis Wharf; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashley, Justin, Isabeau, Nicolette and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Jacqueline.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Rob Kelly officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Doorways, 612 East Marshall Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219.
