James E. “Jim” Bailey, age 71, left this world on his own terms on December 22, 2023. Jim had a genuine faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ in heaven above, but recent life circumstances hindered him from embracing its present-day reality.
He was pronounced deceased in his most recent home of 2 years in Exmore, VA. He was born in 1952 to Urbine and Delphia Bailey in Baltimore, MD.
Since the passing of his late wife Debbie in 2016, Jim spent many years looking for a new place to call home, including the mountain town of Lock Haven, PA. Prior to her death he spent most of his life raising his family of 4 boys as an MD native living in Elkton and then Warwick. He started his family with Debbie in Wilmington, DE and for a time settled in Elsmere, DE.
Jim was a 1970 graduate of Claymont High School where he met his wife, Debbie. They married in 1972 during their Easter vacation. Jim's main priority in life was providing for his family. He was a Chemical Plant Operator & Supervisor for DuPont at the Edgemoore, DE location. Jim enjoyed playing guitar and singing along to the Rock & Roll of his youth, and country music of the 80s. He loved taking car trips to find "good food” at “good prices". He had a special fondness for Holiday and Sunday dinners his wife Debbie or his mother-in-law Cora Armstrong would host.
Jim is survived by his 4 sons. James Bailey of Salisbury, MD, Christopher Bailey of Elkton, MD, Patrick Bailey of Warwick, MD, and Garrett Bailey of Exmore, VA; and brothers: Brian Bailey of Wilmington, DE and Alfred Bailey Jr of Westminster, MD. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife Debra R. Bailey, as well as brothers Fred & David.
A memorial service for Jim will be held on Monday, January 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bible Fellowship Church of Newark, 808 S Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702.
