Mr. Jefferson Orr Thurman "Jot" Brown, 90, husband of the late Julie Hunt Brown and a resident of Onancock, formerly of Larchmont, Norfolk, Va., passed away Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore. Mr. Brown was raised in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and was the son of the late Jefferson O. Brown and the late Minnie Dixon Brown. He retired from the Virginia Employment Commission with over 40 years of service. He served in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He won the Golden Gloves Championship for boxing at North Carolina State, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Va. Mr. Brown is survived by a sister, Margaret Brown Gill and her husband Charles Melvin of Broadnax, Va.; a sister-in-law, Peggy Hunt Phillips and her husband Rip of Cape Charles, Va. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, William Frances Brown, John Edward Brown, Walter Andrew Brown, and a sister, Louise Brown Forbes. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the graveside at the family burial ground at Poplar Hill Farm, Eastville. The Rev. Harry W. Crandall and the Rev.
