Jean Kellam Watkinson

October 11, 1930 — July 23, 2007

Mrs. Jean Kellam Watkinson, 76, wife of the late Thomas William "Tooty" Watkinson and a resident of Wachapreague, died at her residence from metastatic liver cancer, Monday, July 23, 2007. A native of Wachapreague, she was the daughter of the late George Kellam and the late Ivy Parker Kellam. She was a retired "self taught scientist" for Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Jean was a member of Powelton Presbyterian Church and an avid homemaker. She enjoyed walking, cutting grass, growing flowers, gardening, making quilts and rugs, and restoring old furniture. She is survived by a daughter, Tomeka Anne Watkinson of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Pat K. Hart of Wachapreague, Va., Mary Jane Wilson of Fla.; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Jack, Buddy, Bob, and George Kellam, and a sister, Amy Colonna. Honoring the wishes of Jean, there will be no service, but in her memory the bells will toll on Sunday at Powelton Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Shore Cancer Center, P.O.
