Mrs. Jean Kelley Mitchell, 80, wife of the late Edward L. "Buddy" Mitchell, and a resident of Quinby, VA, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. Kelley and the late Myrle Killmon Kelley. Mrs. Mitchell was a retired seamstress and former owner of Jean's Market in Quinby. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Mildred Stephenson OES and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4856. Survivors include three children, Margaret Lewis and LaWanna Wallace, both of Quinby, and Melvin Gochnour of Vanceboro, NC; a stepson, Billy Mitchell of Onancock, VA; one brother, Jimmy Kelley and his wife Anita of Painter, VA; two granddaughters, Kristi Moses of Quinby and Ann Lurba and her husband Tim of Farnham, VA; one great grandson, Seth Moses. Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by a brother, William Kelley and two sisters, Hazel Goswellen and Annabel Anderson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rebecca McGee officiating. Interment will follow in the Quinby Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
