James H. Wills

September 16, 1935 — October 11, 2016

James Harvey Wills, husband of Beverly Ann Wills and son of Harvey Jay and Kathryn Mikeal Wills, passed away at his residence Tuesday, October 11, 2016. A native of Huntington, WV, he attended and played football at Marshall University. He was a U. S. Army Special Forces Vietnam Veteran and retired from the Bureau of Diplomatic Security. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

He served with the Agency for International Development (USAID) throughout the world under extreme conditions. He was the recipient of numerous awards. He was program manager for Safehaven Emergency Care Program (SHEC), which involved extensive travel and serving 139 U.S. Embassies, including reopening of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait.

In addition to his loving wife of 40 years, he is survived by a son, John Jay Wills of Huntington; two grandsons, Ryan and Logan; three sisters, Shirley Wills of Tennessee, Nancy Tatum and her husband, Robert, of Leesburg, VA, Kathryn Leap and her husband, David, of Huntington; nieces, Rhonda and Jaymie and devoted nephews, Shayne and Rhett.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at his home on Virginia's Eastern Shore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163.
