James Richard Wheatley

James Richard Wheatley, 77, husband of Diane Guthrie Wheatley and a resident of Wachapreague, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his residence. A native of Middletown, DE, he was the son of the late Frank and Blanche Hastings Wheatley. A U.S. Navy Veteran, Mr. Wheatley was a retired sales clerk for E.D. Supply, a past member of Central Shore Lions Club, and American Legion Post #56. Other than his wife, survivors include two children, Jamie Wheatley and his wife Nicole of Onancock, VA, Tori Wheatley of Wachapreague; one step son, Derek Hurdle and his wife Nikki of Wattsville, VA; one grandson, Connor Hurdle of Wattsville; and one sister, Ruth Walker of Middletown. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Pastor Joe McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in the Wachapreague Cemetery. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service.
