James Monroe Killmon, better known as "Poncho", 71, husband of Betty Scarborough Killmon and a resident of Pungoteague, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 03, 2009 at his residence. A native of Harborton, VA, he was the son of the late Joseph Monroe Killmon and the late Myrtle Jenkins Killmon. He was the owner of Killmon Plumbing & Heating, a member of Hollies Baptist Church, the Methodist Men's Club, and Exmore Moose Lodge #683. Other than his wife, he is survived by three children, Todd Killmon and his wife Shannon of Painter, VA, Michele K. Birch and her husband Allen of Windsor, VA, and Pastor Dean Killmon and his wife Kathy of Lynchburg, VA; a brother, Robert Killmon and his wife Jane of Painter; four sisters, Helen K. Smith of Pungoteague, Carolyn K. Ward and her husband Burleigh of Nassawadox, VA, Catherine K. Farlow and her husband David of Quinby, VA, and Charlotte K. Watkinson and her husband Kenneth of Onancock, VA; seven grandchildren, Ariel Killmon of Crisfield, MD, Amon Killmon of Fruitland, MD, McKinlee, Maggie, and Mariah Killmon, all of Painter, Elizabeth and Grace Killmon of Lynchburg; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Pastor Dean Killmon and Pastor Joe McKnight officiating.
