James Henry Higginbotham

James Henry Higginbotham, 84, of Exmore, formerly of Buena Vista died Thursday March 17, 2005 at his daughter's residence in Exmore, Virginia. Mr. Higginbotham was born on January 22, 1921 in Buena Vista and was a son of the late Rufus A. Higginbotham and Kate White Higginbotham. He was a member of the Grace Chapel in Buena Vista and was preceded in death by one son, Randolph L. Higginbotham. He was a graduate of Parry McCluer High School where he was captain of the football team and valedictiorian of his graduating class. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. Mr. Higginbotham is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Higginbotham of Buena Vista, one daughter, Norma H. Strock & husband Rev. Joe Strock of Exmore, one son, James William Higginbotham & wife Julia of Union, WV, one daughter-in-law, Jane Lynn Higginbotham of Buena Vista and eight grandchildren, Timmy & Teresa Strock, Robert & Andrew Higginbotham, Laura, Kelly, Megan, & Aaron Higginbotham and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the Grace Chapel with Rev. Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive freinds from 5 to 7 PM Saturday at the Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista. Local Arrangements made by Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore.
