James Dineen

James L. Dineen, 72, of Freeville, NY passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Nassawadox, VA. Jim was born July 30, 1944 in Middletown, NY a son of the late Charles and Irene Post Dineen. After graduating from St. Joseph's High School in Middletown, NY he was graduated from Saint Bonaventure University and then from Case Western University with a Masters in Social Work. These studies lead Jim to a career in Social Work at George Junior Republic in Freeville, NY. On June 8, 1968 he was married to the former Doreen Kentner. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and served on the liturgy committee and was a Lector. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading, computing, dancing, music, cooking and watching sports. He was a member of Stonehedges Golf Course and enjoyed square dancing with the Seven Valley Whirl-a-ways. Jim was devoted to his family and especially to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Doreen A. Dineen of Freeville, Sean (Melanie) Dineen of Beverly, MA, Kyle (Karrie) Dineen of Exmore, VA; grandchildren, Maeve, Cael and Graeme Dineen and Jordan Jacobs; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles, John and Francis "Mike" Dineen and a sister, Mary Meyers.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Monday, Oct 24, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Perkins Funeral Home 55 West Main Street, Dryden. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to a charity of their own choice.
