James Parsons Dalglish, born May 7, 1947 passed away peacefully, early Saturday morning, September 21, 2024. James resided in Franktown, VA. He served in the Vietnam War on a Top Secret Submarine in the Pacific. He was awarded a 100% Service Connected Disability. Jamie was a renowned abstract painter . His work was exhibited in NY, throughout the US and Internationally. His work is in numerous collections. He was the recipient of the Poloroid Grant and the Pollock Krasner Grant. Jamie graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and came to New York, attaining a loft at 52 Bond St, NYC.
He brought David Byrne with him and introduced the band Talking Heads to CBGB’s. The early 70’s were a hot bed of creativity around 52 Bond St.
Artists like Jean Michel Basquiat, Brice Marden, Vito Acconci, Chris Franz, Tina Weymouth, David Byrne and Carla Andre, among the regular visitors to Jamie’s studio. Jamie was represented by OK Harris Gallery, Barbara Braathen Gallery, Broadway Gallery and Hugo De Pagano Gallery, among others. Jamie continued to maintain his studio in the East Village and Tribecca, NYC and sold to prominent Art Collectors. In 2020 he moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, which he called Heaven. He proclaimed he had never been happier, surrounded by such beauty and light.
Jamie is survived by his loving wife, fellow artist, Kathleen Casey, residing in Franktown, VA and NYC, His sons Max Dalglish, NYC, Casey James Nunez, NYC, Rosmery Nunez, NYC and He has one grandchild, Clara Jean Dalglish, NYC. He is survived by his sister, Meredith Dalglish, OR, and his brothers Malcolm Dalglish and Campbell Dalglish, NY. Jamie’s deceased brother, Tom Dalglish, RI.
