James Arthur Bott, 91, husband of the late Margaret Gilliss Bott and a resident of Jamesville, passed away at the Hermitage in Onancock on Monday, October 6, 2008. Mr. Bott was the son of the late James Sydney Bott and the late Sallie Wescott Bott. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, William Kellam Bott. A graduate of Central High School, Mr. Bott graduated from VMI in 1936. He served in WWII for three and a half years in the Pacific Theater and retired after 38 years from the DuPont Company. Upon returning to Jamesville in 1974, he enjoyed a retirement filled with family, friends, fishing and hunting. He is survived by two sons, James A. Bott, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Jamesville and Chincoteague, and William B. Bott and his wife, Brigitte, of Jamesville; four grandchildren, Chris Bott and his wife, Christy, of Chincoteague, Kate Bott Boardman and her husband, Jeff, of Harborton, Charles Bott and his wife, Caroline, of Lexington, VA, and J. Wescott Bott and his wife, Anne Marie, of Eagle River, AK; eight great-grandchildren, Parker, William and Nathan Bott, Sarah and Audrey Boardman, Owen and Connor Bott, and Reed Bott; one sister, Leah Bott Main and husband, Glenn, of Timonium, MD; four nephews and one niece. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hermitage in Onancock. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. from the Belle Haven Cemetery in Belle Haven with the Rev. Joe McKnight officiating.
