Jack Lewis

February 11, 1939 — October 14, 2015

John Wayne Lewis, Sr., better known as Jack, 76, husband of Deborah Gowran Lewis and a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his residence. A native of Cape Charles, he was the son of the late Horace Lee Lewis and the late Mary Ann Taylor Lewis. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Cherrystone Campground and past member and chief of Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by five children, John Wayne Lewis, Jr. of Cape Charles, Timmy Lewis and his wife, Ann, of Birdsnest, VA, Shelby Lewis Parker and her husband, Bud, of Oyster, VA, Christine LeVick and her husband, Rob, of Cape Charles, Joseph Carrick and his wife, Jean, of Watertown, NY; three brothers, Preston Lewis of Cape Charles, Diddy Lewis of Cape Charles, Jerry Lewis of Cape Charles; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ann Lewis and his brother, Bobby Lewis.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday, October 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Reverend Russell Goodrich officiating. Family will join friends at Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market Street, Suite #3, Onancock, VA 23417.
