Hubert L. Childress

Hubert L. Childress, 89, husband of the late Emily Netherland Childress for 65 years and a resident of Machipongo, VA, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Kingsport, TN, he was the son of the late James and Ada Grey Childress. He was a member of the North East Church of Christ, the VFW, and American Legion. Survivors include a son, D. Gene Childress and his wife, Jean of Machipongo; one brother, Harold G. Childress and his wife, Helen Ruth and a sister, Helen B. Boyd, both of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Rob Childress and his wife, Julie of Dallas, TX, Shane Childress and his wife, Brandy of Accomac, VA and Tonya Willett and her husband, Tom of Painter, VA and seven great-grandchildren. Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, J.R. Childress and a great-grandson, Thomas Willett Jr. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Kingsport, TN. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
