Hessie Chestnut Raff

Hessie Chestnut Raff, 90, wife of the late Charles Leslie Raff and a resident of Cape Charles, formerly of New Jersey, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 at the home of her granddaughter in Eastville.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mrs. Raff was the daughter of the late Nancy and Daniel Chestnut. She was a retired aid from Woodbine State Mental Hospital in New Jersey.

A funeral service will be held today, Jan. 12, at Evoy Funeral Home in Cape May, N.J. Interment will be in Tabernacle Cemetery, Erma, N.J.

Mrs Raff is survived by four children, Nancy and her husband John "Jack" McCarthy of Cape Charles, Marian Raff of Cape May, N.J., Frederick Raff of Williamstown, N.J. and Charles Raff of California; seven grandchildren, Elaine Spencer of Eastville, Patricia Ambrose of Chesapeake, Va., Christine Priole of Brooklawn, N.J., Herman Raff, Rebecca Raff, David Raff, John Burke all of Cape May, N.J.; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.
