Herman L. Bundick, 83, of Coal Kiln, and husband of Emily S. Bundick, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at his residence. Bundick, a lifelong resident of Coal Kiln, was born November 10, 1926, to the late Leonard C. Bundick and the late Annie B. Bundick. He is survived by three (3) children including Carl H. Bundick, and his wife, Sherri, of Painter, Len J. Bundick, and his wife, Terry, of Harborton, and Thalia B. Shrieves, and her husband, Drummond, of Painter. He is further survived by seven grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Joshua A. Bundick, and his wife, Holly, Kyle J. Bundick, Kristi D. Bundick, Morgan L. Shrieves, Caleb D. Shrieves, Olivia A. Bundick and Adam L. Bundick. He is also survived by a brother, Brooks M. Bundick, of the Hermitage, Onancock, and many loving Boole family members who were his cousins. He was the retired Postmaster of the Painter Post Office, where he served twenty-nine (29) years, and had farmed with his father before that time. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, for whom he served in the South Pacific in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, and had previously been the Past Worshipful Master of the Ocean Masonic Lodge 116 AF&AM at Wachapreague, the Eastern Shore Shrine Club, the Valley of Portsmouth Scottish Rite and the Exmore Moose Lodge #683. He was a lifelong member of the Painter-Garrison's United Methodist Church at Painter. A funeral service in his memory and in honor of his life will be held at the Doughty Funeral Home, at Exmore, Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. A period of visitation with the family will be held one (1) hour prior to the service. The Reverend Tom Durrance will officiate. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery with military honors.
