Herbert M. Simpson

Mr. Herbert "Herb" Martin Simpson, 47, died Thursday,March 15, 2007 in Belle Haven, Virginia. Herb is a former resident of Ocracoke Island, NC where he also volunteered as a firefighter. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Martin Simpson and Barbara Jean Grubbs Simpson of Chester, VA. He is survived by his sisters, Deborah Simpson Mobley and husband Gerald Wayne Mobley of Belle Haven, VA and Gina Simpson Pickens and husband Donald Robert "Bob" Pickens, Jr., of LaCrosse, VA. Herbert has two nephews, Matthew Wellington Edwards of Oxford, PA and Donald Robert Pickens, III of LaCrosse, VA. He is survived by his wife, Rita Dean Oxley Henshaw Simpson and two step-children, Christana Henshaw Garrettson and Michael Henshaw of Sutherland, VA. Herb was rich with friends who remained devoted during his illness. It was Herb's request that no formal service be held. Herb will be remembered for his many talents including racing and mechanical and carpentry skills. Most especially he will remain in our hearts for his good humor, kindness, generous spirit, love for children and animals, and always being there to support others when times were difficult. The family requests no flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity or local SPCA.
