Harry T. Ponting, Sr.

Harry T. Ponting, Sr, 84, Onancock, VA. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. He was born September 20, 1922 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Reese and Hanna Ponting. Mr. Ponting and his beloved wife Betsy moved to the Eastern Shore in 1993 to enjoy their retirement years near the ocean. Mr. Ponting, a World War II veteran who fought in all five European campaigns, was a retired mechanical engineer. A member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Pocomoke City, MD, Mr. Ponting enjoyed reading, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betsy Marie Ponting of Onancock, Va., and was blessed with four sons: Harry T. Ponting, Jr and his wife Elma of Arlington, Va., Kurt P. Ponting, Sr. and his wife Dee of Onancock, VA., Rand C. Ponting and his wife Judy of New Baltimore, MI, and Scott M. Ponting of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by daughter-in-law Julie Ponting of Laurel, MD. and seven grandchildren: Kurt T. Ponting and Kara E. Ponting of Laurel, MD., Kurt P. Ponting, Jr and Kory F. Ponting of Onancock, VA., Mallory S. Ponting and Matthew T. Ponting of Deland, FL, and Zacchary Townsend of New Baltimore, MI. After a private viewing for family members, a Celebration of Life service will be conducted at a later date for family and friends.
