Harry Gaskill

George Harry Gaskill, Sr., better known as Harry, 72, husband of the late Louise McCready Gaskill and the late Pearl E. Gaskill and a resident of Onley, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Born June 1, 1942 in Beaufort County, Chocowinity Township, NC, he was the son of the late Richard M. Gaskill and the late Nell Edora Gerard Gaskill. He moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia at the age of 16, worked at Newport News Shipyard as a Class A Welder and spent many years as a waterman. He is survived by a son, George H. Gaskill, Jr., better known as G.H., and his wife, Melissa, of Keller, VA; a daughter, Sherry A. Gaskill Belote and her husband, Patrick, of Onancock, VA; a brother, Bennett Gaskill and his wife, Helga, of Newport News, VA; two grandchildren, George H. Gaskill, III of Melfa, VA, Felicia M. Gaskill of Melfa; two great grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Gaskill of Machipongo, VA, Aaron Tyler Furniss of Melfa and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Gaskill and two sisters, Nell Gaskill and Ruby Gaskill West. A celebration of life service will be conducted Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Doughty Funeral Home with Steve Booker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, Post Office Box 17, Nassawadox, VA 23413.
