H. Hatton Phillips, 96, husband of the late Betty Bell Widgen Phillips and a resident of Nassawadox, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009. A native of Melfa, Mr. Phillips was the son of the late Harry D. & Lula Hatton Phillips. He was a retired Plant Supervisor for Exmore Foods. He attended Red Bank Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips enjoyed playing bridge and being the high scorer in the Melfa and Nassawadox Bridge Clubs and he was an avid race horse follower. Survivors include two sons, Hatton Widgen Phillips of Salisbury, MD, Jerry Phillips and his wife Donna of Voorhees, NJ, a brother, N. Donald Phillips of Melfa; a granddaughter, Kristina Phillips of Washington, D.C.; a grandson, Howard K. Phillips and his wife Tara of Salisbury. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret P. Elmore. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Mount Holly Cemetery in Onancock with Pastor John M. Robertson officiating.
