Gillian Mary Foltz
September 28, 1943 — July 23, 2013
Gillian Mary Foltz, 69, wife of Randall Foltz and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. Born in Holbeach, St. Johns, England, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Stanley Stevenson and the late Gladys Jones Stevenson Cleaton. Gillian grew up in Bargoed, Wales, studied nursing at the Royal Cardiff Infirmary, and delivered over 900 babies as a nurse midwife. She also traveled the world as a Captain in Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps and served as an R.N. at both Virginia Beach General Hospital and Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. In addition to her husband, Gillian is survived by two children, Joriel Carwen Foltz and husband, Ben, of Seattle, WA, and Dreagn David Foltz and wife, Carrie, of New York, NY; one sister, Marjorie Ann O'Brien and husband John of Canberra, Australia; one brother, John Edward Stevenson and wife Megan of Tenby, South Wales, UK; and three grandchildren, Sagan Foltz Haley, Kepler Foltz Haley and Dashler Bayley Foltz. A celebration of life gathering will be held on the date of Gillian's 70th birthday, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul on the Shore Lutheran Church, 28281 Main Street, Hallwood, Virginia. A reception following the service will be held in the church social hall.
