Gerda Irene Halbig

Gerda Irene Halbig, 85, wife of the late Frederick A. Halbig, Jr. and a resident of Silver Beach, VA, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Leipzig, Germany, she was the daughter of the late William Bruske and the late Ottilia Herrmann Bruske. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church and loved plants, animals, and the beauty and nature of Virginia's Eastern Shore. She is survived by one daughter, Linda K. Goldstine and her husband, Chris, of Silver Beach; one grandson, Matthew Goldstine of Silver Beach; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Halbig of Long Island, NY; two nieces, Elizabeth Bradshaw of Orlando, FL, Christina Noel Halbig of Long Island; four nephews, Luke Bradshaw of Orlando, Warren Anthony Halbig, Tom Halbig, Warren Joseph Halbig, all of Long Island; other family members include James, Dawn, and Harold Goldstine, of Silver Beach and Shara, Jeffrey, Grace and Trevor Walden, of Freeville, NY. A funeral service and interment will be held at New Bern National Cemetery in New Bern, NC. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made to S.P.C.A. Animal Shelter, P.O.
