Gay Walker (View Video Tribute) Mears

Gay Walker Mears, 53, wife of Edward L. Mears Jr. and a resident of Melfa, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her residence. A native of Leemont, Virginia, she is the daughter of R. Brice Walker of Leemont and the late Colleen Burkhead Walker. She was a LPN and worked at Arcadia Nursing Home and Quail Run. She was a member of United Christian Church of Parksley. Other than her father and husband, she is survived by five children, Brian Crockett and his fiancee Sabrina Conaty of Glen Allen, Va., Robie Mears and his wife Amber of Melfa, Va., Edward L. Mears III and his wife Susan of Onancock, Va., Edean M. Bundick and her husband James of Greenbackville, Va., Laura M. Goga and her husband Gerald of Melfa, Va.; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Joe McKnight and Pastor Bill Cathell officiating.
