Gary Buck

November 21, 1950 — January 4, 2025

Gary John Buck, 74, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on November 21, 1950, in London, England, to Ivy and Thomas Buck, Gary lived a remarkable life filled with adventure, resilience, and love.

Gary's early years were defined by his relentless work ethic and a spirit of daring. From working on oil rigs in the desert to driving trucks through war zones, he embraced danger and adventure in pursuit of providing for his family. During his time driving for Halliburton, Gary even endured imprisonment in Libya under Muammar Gaddafi, a testament to his courage and determination.

His life took a new turn when he met Sheree while working in Germany. Together, they built a life in the United States, where Gary became a proud naturalized citizen. Starting with only the clothes on his back and $200 to his name, he embodied the American dream, working tirelessly to create a better future. He married Sheree in North Carolina, and in 1983, they welcomed their son, Ian.

Gary was a dedicated husband to Sheree, a loving father to Ian (Irina), and a proud grandfather to Cadeus, Gaius, and Tiberius. He cherished his sister, Jacqueline "Carina" Buck of England, and maintained a close bond with his sister-in-law, Margolane Parker, and her daughter, Jennifer Bauters.

A man of strong convictions, Gary was deeply patriotic and believed in the values enshrined in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. He loved sailing, spending time at the shooting range, and sharing his passions with his family.

In reflecting on his life, Gary said, "I look back and say, 'I've done an awful lot of stuff.' I haven't looked back and said, 'well, I didn't do much.' I look back and say, 'wow.'"

Gary's legacy is one of courage, hard work, and love for his family. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering dedication, and the pride he took in the life he built.
