Fred H. Alter

Mr. Fred H. Alter, 76, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006. Born March 19, 1930 in New York, New York, he was a retired psychologist for the District of Columbia school system. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Alter loved music and was a bassist and guitar player. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Gwen R. Alter; step-daughters, Stephanie A. Palmer of Ashburn, Va., & Susan Helms of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, David Alter of Denver, Colo., and a sister, Anne Irving Goodman of Pittsfield, Mass. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the graveside of Cape Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Decker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1536 Kingsley Ave., Suite 123, Orange Park, Fla. 32073.
