Frank Leroy Shannon

Frank Leroy Shannon, 74, a resident of Atlantic, VA, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Manokin Manor in Princess Anne, MD. He was born in Danville, VA to the late Emmett Leroy (Roy) Shannon and the late Vienna Thompson Shannon. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964, began working at NASA base in 1964 until 2000. He retired from the Army National Guard in Annapolis, MD. and was also a member of the American Legion. Frank is survived by his wife, Karen M. Shannon of Atlantic; a son, Michael Shannon of Pocomoke, MD.; one grandson, Donald Cole Porter, of Pocomoke; five granddaughters, Alyssa Shannon of Pocomoke, Nora Montross of Denver, CO., Alison Bowman, Brianna Montross and Megan Montross all of Temperanceville, VA.; one brother, Robert Shannon of New Mexico. A service will be held at NASA Wallops Base for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Paula Belote, P.O.
