Mr. Floyd Wilbur Gaskill, 82, loving father, loyal friend, and unique character departed this life on April 12, 2014. Floyd was born in Tuckerton, New Jersey, raised in Ewing, New Jersey, and happily retired in Cedarview Beach, Virginia for the last twenty-five years. Floyd was a "come here" to the Eastern shore and was proud to become a "been here." He lived a thousand lives, which are not limited to a carpenter, fisherman, farmer, clam house operator, importer of Black Forest cuckoo clocks, small seafood restaurateur, and Indian chief. He enjoyed a retirement in Cedarview Beach, Virginia, where he fished, patrolled the neighborhood, and earned the nicknames, "Sheriff of Cedarview" and "Flash." His quick humor, captivating stories, and pleasant company will long be treasured. He always lit up the room. He is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Debra Gaskill Raike, and his former wife, Lorraine Gaskill. His sisters, Ida Roberts, Dorothy Clay, Anne McNeamer, Mina Voorhees, and brother John also predeceased Floyd. Left to cherish his memory is his longtime companion, Kathy Benson. His three children, Dan and his wife, Laura, Bob and his wife, Gina, and Patricia Fleming and her husband, Rick, also survive Floyd. He is very proud of his four grandchildren, Kimberly, Michael, Kevin, along with Brian and his wife, Susan. Floyd, additionally, is survived by his brother, William Gaskill, and son-in-law, Rich Raike, and his wife, Kim. As per Floyd's wishes, cremation was private.
