Fern Copenhaver Barban, 81, wife of the late Stanley L. "Siegle" Barban and a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at her residence. Born July 3, 1929 in Tazewell, VA and raised in Blacksburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Baker Copenhaver and the late Fern Spencer Copenhaver. She was a retired teacher for Cape Charles and Northampton County Public Schools. Survivors include three children, Valerie B. Travis (Butch) of Cape Charles, Kim S. Barban (Kate) and Brian P. Barban (Debbie) all of Nassawadox, VA; a daughter in-law, Susan H. Barban of California; a brother, Barnes Copenhaver (Neil) of Blacksburg; seven grandchildren, Nathan T. Travis (Heather), S. Adam Travis, Spencer L. Travis, Joshua B. Barban, Sarah S. Barban, David H. Barban, and Philip S. Barban; two great grandchildren, Mollie B. Travis and Reid S. Travis. Other than her husband, Mrs. Barban was predeceased by a son, Dr. Mark David Barban. A graveside service will be held at Cape Charles Cemetery Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Conrow officiating. Following the service the family invites friends to the Barban Family home.
