Ernestine Parker Cherrix

Ernestine Parker Cherrix, 67, wife of James Edward "Buddy" Cherrix and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at her residence. A native of Hacksneck, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Juanita Shelton Parker. She was a retired receptionist for Eastern Shore Physicians and Surgeons and a member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jeff L. Smith and his wife Michelle of Cleveland, NC, and Mark Edward Cherrix and his wife Michelle of Seattle, WA; two sisters, June P. Collins and her husband Bill of Melfa, VA and Patricia P. Phillips and her husband Danny of Willis Wharf, VA; two grandchildren, Katilyn Smith and Ryan Smith, both of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cherrix was predeceased by two daughters, Kellie and Angela Colonna. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Doughty Funeral Home with Rev. Judith Worthington, Rev. Jack D. Pruitt, and Rev. Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30.
