Emmett H. Bailey

Emmett Hulcher Bailey, 87, husband of Lola Young Bailey and a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late William W. Bailey and the late Virginia Bailey Preddy and the late Willis A. Preddy. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Health, founder of Bailey's Tackle Shop, attended Cheriton Baptist Church, past Master and member of Capeville Masonic Lodge #107 AF & AM, member of Northampton Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star, member of A & N Antique Car Club, and a founding member of Cape Charles Anglers Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Gloria "Ginger" Johnson and her husband, Bob, of Machipongo, VA, Marie Brady and her husband, Donnie, of Cape Charles, Annette Harrison and her husband, Shawn, of Townsend, VA; one brother, Willis Preddy and his wife, Arlene, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Brian Johnson and his wife, Traci, Jeb S. Brady and his wife, Marie, Chad Harrison, Shana Harrison; three great-grandsons, Cody Johnson, Seth Johnson, Koby Sparrow; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William W. Bailey, Jr. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Cheriton Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Peterson and Reverend Russell Goodrich officiating. Interment will follow at the Cape Charles Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30.
