Emma "Emmie" Jester Martin, 92, wife for 51 years of the late Richard A. Martin, Jr. and a resident of Belle Haven, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Bayford, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clifford S. Jester and the late Mary Gunter Jester. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at Belle Haven, Cheriton and Hare Valley. She was a member of Craddockville United Methodist Church, Red Hat Ladies, United Methodist Women, Breast Cancer Support Group, Business and Professional Womans Club and taught Sunday School for many years. She is survived by a son, Alan S. Martin and his wife, Daphne, of Odessa, DE; three grandchildren, Glenn Martin and his companion, Heather, of Bear, DE, Gregg Martin and his wife, Melissa, of Smyrna, DE, Adam Martin and his wife, Becca, of Cheswold, DE; four nieces, Ann Doughty and her husband, Ray, of Belle Haven, Linda Devor of Simpsonville, SC, Faye Godbey and her husband, Doug, of Quinby, VA, Jo Ann Walls and her husband, Dick, of New Castle, DE; five great grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Clifford Jester; sister-in-law, Bea Jester; sister, Dorothy Collins Sturgis; brother-in-law, John Thomas Sturgis and nephew, Kenneth Collins. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Belle Haven Cemetery with Pastors Steve and Donna Doan officiating.
