Mrs. Emily Netherland Childress, 85, wife of Hubert L. Childress for 65 Years, and a resident of Painter, Virginia passed away at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Wednesday, January 23, 2008. A native of Kingsport, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Robert Glenn Netherland and the late Ada Harr Netherland. She was a member of North East Church of Christ in Kingsport, Tenn. Other than her husband, she is survived by a son, D. Gene Childress and his wife Jean of Machipongo, Va.; three brothers, Robert G. Netherland, John D. Netherland both of Goochland, Va., James L. Netherland of Powhatan, Va.; a sister, Nancy N. Edwards of Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Robby Childress and his wife Julie of Dallas, Tx., Shane Childress and his wife Brandy of Accomac, Va., Tonya Willett and her husband Tom of Painter, Va.; and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a infant son, J.R. Childress, a great grandson, Thomas Willett, Jr., four brothers and sisters, Nelson and Sam Netherland, Faye Nidiffer, and Irene N. Scotch. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 26th at 2:00 PM from the Oak Hill Memorial Park in Kingsport, Tennessee. Family will receive friends at the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport, Saturday, January 26th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
