Emily Mae Saunders Bundick, 80, of Coal Kiln, Painter, Virginia, passed peacefully into her final rest, following a short illness, May 7, 2014, while a patient at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox. Born onto a large hillside family farm at Goodview, in Bedford County Virginia, Emily was the last- surviving of five children born to Joseph and Snowwhite Wright Saunders. She was predeceased by her late husband, Herman L. Bundick, with whom she was married fifty-eight (58) years, while living on the family farm, and having worked at the family's Coal Kiln Grocery. "Miss Emily", as she will be affectionately remembered, was a long time cornerstone of the Methodist Camp, Camp Occohannock, where she fed the souls, in her "food ministry", of countless young men, women, children, families and the Emmaus faithful. The camp was the true calling of her life, as were her cinnamon buns and pigs-in-the-blankets. She worked in the cafeteria at Accomack County Public Schools, for twenty-three (23) years, retiring in 2008, after serving at Central, the Onancock Learning Center, and Nandua High School. While there, she baked her famous yeast rolls and dispensed her locally-famous pickle relish. She was a loyal member of the Painter-Garrison's United Methodist Church, and advocate and member of ARC-Eastern Shore. She is survived by three children, Carl Herman Bundick (Sherri), Len Joseph Bundick (Terry), Thalia Mae Bundick Shrieves (Drummy); her beloved grandchildren, Joshua (Holly), Kyle, Kristi, Morgan, Caleb, Olivia, Adam; great grandchildren, Alex and Parke; and Joshua's mother, Barbara. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Saunders, and brother-in-law, Jack Lynch, and several beloved nephews and nieces, Billy Ross, Larry Ross, Lisa Saunders, Hugh Saunders, Pat Irby, Joseph Ross, Tina England and Catherine Saunders. Funeral services will be conducted, Saturday, May, 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Camp Occohannock Worship Center, near Craddockville, with Pastors Steve and Donna Doan officiating. Family will join friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery and a reception for family and friends will be held at the Painter Volunteer Fire Department thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in her memory be made to ARC-Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 626, Exmore, VA 23350 or to Occohannock on the Bay, 9403 Camp Lane, Belle Haven, VA 23306.
