Elwood Thomas Justis, Jr.

Elwood Thomas "Woody" Justis, Jr., 73, husband of Suzanne T. Justis and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at his residence. A native of Bloxom, VA, he was the son of the late Elwood Thomas Justis, Sr. and the late Flossie Marie Hart Justis. He retired as a maintenance mechanic for Shore Memorial Hospital. He was a member, past governor, and earned the Fellowship Degree of Exmore Moose Lodge #683. Other than his wife, he is survived by five children, Elvis Thomas Justis of Exmore, Susan Lynn Elliott and her husband Ralph of Berlin, MD, Rita Marie Simpson and her husband Marvin of Painter, VA, Teresa Ann Moncrief and her husband James of Machipongo, VA, and Wendy Lee Everett and her husband William of Accomac, VA; a sister, Norma Lee Fitchett and her husband Milton of Willis Wharf, VA; two half brothers; eleven grandchildren, Candice Altman, Dana and Mason Elliott, Shawn and Stephanie Simpson, Stacey Stringfield, Erica Moncrief, Brittany Fisher, Krista, Jeremy, and Jada Everett; four great grandchildren, Tyler Noell, Taylor Hunt, Jada Justis, and Nevaeh Altman. Mr. Justis was predeceased by a son Elwood Thomas Justis, III. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Carpenter and the Rev. Sean McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the Doughty Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.
