Elsie Bloxom Russell

Elsie Bloxom Russell, 86, wife of the late William A. Russell and a resident Cheriton, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Shore Healthcare and Rehab at Parksley. A native of Oyster, VA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald T. Shrieves and the late Shirley Gladden Shrieves. She was a member of Travis Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two children, William Thomas Russell, II and his wife, Anita, of Painter, VA and Kevin Russell and his wife, Rose, of Havre de Grace, MD; three brothers, Bill Shrieves of AZ, Jerry Shrieves of Portsmouth, VA and Harry Shrieves of Chincoteague, VA; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Joshua, Jacob and Jonathan; eight great grandchildren, Alyssa, Antonio, Kaylle, Aubrey, Owen, Amelia, Heather and Luke.  In addition to her husband and parents, Elsie was predeceased by a sister Bessie Shrieves and a granddaughter, Carrie F. Russell.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 8, 2021, at 2:30PM at Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Charles Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in Cape Charles Cemetery. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Cheriton Volunteer Fire Company Post Office Box 41, Cheriton, VA  23316.
