Elmer R. Ward, better known as "Toad", 93, husband of Anna Mae Tarr Ward and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at his residence. A native of Willis Wharf, he was the son of the late Oscar Ward and the late Lillie Colonna Ward. He was a retired waterman and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ward is survived by two children, Gary H. Kelley Sr. and his wife Terry Lee of Wachapreague, VA, Joan Kelley Bailey and her husband Jimmy of Exmore; a sister Anita Smith of Willis Wharf; a brother J.M. Sutton of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Ann Marie Kelley, Gary H. Kelley, Jr. and Robin Vonhollen; seven great-grandchildren, Darien, Kristen, and Gary Kelley III, Richard and Kelley Riddle, Hunter Smith, and J. R. Bishop; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Bishop and Chelsea Moore. He was predeceased by a son, Randy Ward and two brothers, Oscar Ward and Elvin Sutton. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 28th, 2:00 PM at the Belle Haven Cemetery with Mr. Kemmie Dize and Pastor Raymond McGarr officiating. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.
