Mrs. Ellen Kendall Scott Dix, 83, of "Cessford" Eastville, Virginia died May 7, 2005, in Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Eastville, she was the daughter of the late William Clinton Scott and Ellen Kendall Ailworth Scott. She was a teacher for thirty five years having taught at Northampton, Fairfax and Alexandria Public Schools, as well as Broadwater Academy. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Eastville, the Garden Club of Virginia, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Northampton Chapter, the Colonial Dames XVII Century, the Jamestown Society, and the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. She was predeceased by her husband, Asa Thomas Dix, Jr. and a daughter, Caroline Kerr Dix Oliver. Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Quinton Dix of Cheriton; a brother, Robert A. Scott of Eastville; and a nephew, Robert A. Scott, Jr. of Cheriton. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert G. Johnson and the Rev. Harry W. Crandall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shore Cancer Center, P.O. Box 17, Nassawadox, Virginia 23413.
