Eleanor Marie "Ellie" Abaray, 80, of Onancock, Virginia, died Saturday, April 4, 2009. She was born September 27, 1928 in Carteret, N.J. to the late Michael Joseph and Mary Chaloka Abaray. She received a BA from David Mannes College of Music, a Diploma from Julliard School of Music, her MA from Columbia University, and voice lessons from Madame Lenart in New York City. She taught private piano, organ, and voice lessons for over fifty years. In 1994 she retired from St. Joseph School in Carteret, N.J. where she taught music. She is survived by Robert E. McCoy and Benjamine O. Bateman Jr. of the home; three cousins, Mary Feryo of Carteret, William H. Sythes and wife Lorrie of Lady Lake, FL.; and Robert L. Abaray and wife Dianne of Apopka, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cape Charles, VA on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Family will join friends at Synowiecki Funeral Home in Carteret, NJ on Thursday evening from 7 to 9. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Synowiecki Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
