Edward Lee Mears, Jr.

August 27, 1939 — August 5, 2014

Edward Lee Mears, Jr., 74, husband of the late Gay Walker Mears and a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away Tuesday, August 05, 2014, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. A native of Keller, VA, he was the son of the late Edward L. Mears and the late Avalyn Young Mears. Mr. Mears was a retired carpenter and a member of Hollies Baptist Church. He is survived by five children, Eddie Lee Mears, III and his wife, Susan, of Onancock, VA, Edean M. Bundick and her husband, James, of Greenbackville, VA, Laura M. Goga and her husband, Gerald, of Melfa, Brian Crockett of Richmond, VA, Robie Mears and his wife, Amber, of Melfa; a sister, Ruth Ellen Gaskins and her husband, Woody, of Melfa; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Joe McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in Hollies Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute, 100 East Carroll Street, Salisbury, MD 21801.
