Belle Haven, VA 23306
Douglas Cole Charnock, 86, husband of Peggy Beach Charnock and a resident of Concord Wharf, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. A native of Machipongo, VA, he was the son of the late Norman Lee Charnock and the late Helen Daisey Charnock. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, retired painting contractor, member of the Exmore Ruritan Club, Capeville Masonic Lodge #107 AF & AM and Bethel United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by nine children, D.J. Elliott of Clearwater, FL, Cindy Gray and her husband, Robert "Stumpy", of Belle Haven, VA, Samuel B. Elliott and his wife, Shelley, of Charleston, SC, Douglas C. Charnock, Jr. and his wife, Jan, of East Point, VA, Norman Lee Charnock of Capeville, VA, Cathy Glass of Jupiter, FL, Eve Stocks of Virginia Beach, VA, Kris Gilbert of Virginia Beach; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Luci Mathews and a sister, Norma Lee Tankard.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverends Paul Oh and Michael Harrington officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Bettie Nuckols, P.O. Box 224, Jamesville, VA 23398.
