Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Bowen, 77, wife of the late George Preston Taylor and the late Cecil Henry Bowen and a resident of Hadlock, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Nassawadox, Virginia. A native of Redbank, Virginia she was the daughter of the late David Henry Miller and the late Susan Virginia Diggs. She was raised by a very special grandmother, the late Mary Esther Smullin. Mrs. Bowen loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as baking, yard sales, country music, bananas, new clothes, flowers (especially red roses), birds, Teddy bears, eating seafood, watching television, boat rides, taking vacations with her family, and playing bingo. She is survived by her children, Larry Thomas Smith and his wife Anita of Melfa, Va., David Lee Smith and his wife Betty of Exmore, Va., and Mona Lisa Turner and her husband Wayne of Belle Haven, Va.; two brothers, Edward E. Kellam and Roy Spady; a sister, Frances Brown; three grandchildren, Sherri M. Lilliston and her husband Louis, Glenda S. Greene, Thomas Wayne Smith and his wife April; two great grandchildren, Logan Lilliston and Benjamin Greene. She was predeceased by three step-daughters and several brothers and her special Siamese cat, Sassy. Mrs. Bowen will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Special thanks from the family to those who were so faithful with cards and visits. Your kindness will not be forgotten. And to her extended family of nurses and staff at Heritage Hall, a sincere thank you is given for the endless hours of love and compassion. Funeral services for Mrs. Bowen will be conducted Monday, June 19, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the graveside of Belle Haven Cemetery with Pastor Mike Muender and Mr. Kemmie Dize officiating.
