Dorotha Culver Wilson, 76, wife of Tommy Glen Wilson and a resident of Richmond, VA, formerly of Cape Charles, VA, went home to meet her Heavenly Father, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer and its aftermath. A native of Cape Charles, she was the daughter of the late Levin Thomas Culver and the late Elizabeth Gaddy Shockley Culver.
As a young teenager, Dorotha belonged to Job’s Daughters, Bethel 43. She was chosen to hold the Honor Queen position when she was fifteen years of age, making her the youngest Honor Queen up until that time. She graduated from Northampton High School in 1966, and then went on to Richmond Professional Institute, now Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated with a Degree in Retail in 1968.
In addition to her loving husband of fifty-six years, she is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Lee Wilson; 2 grandsons, Patrick Quinn and Noah Quinn; a niece, Robin Lynn Heath (Klaus), who was a great source of encouragement during her illness; and many beloved cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 2:30PM, at Capeville United Methodist Church with Reverend Donna Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Cape Charles Cemetery. Family will join friends Saturday evening from 5:00PM til 7:00PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
Dorotha wishes to be remembered with smiles and laughter instead of with tears.
